The date of production/manufacture or age of Sears Kenmore® HVAC equipment can be determined from the serial number located on the data plate. Parent Company: Trademark brand of Sears Roebuck & Co. Example serial number styles/formats found: Style. If the motor is identified as an 'Eldin,' 'Sears' or 'Ted Williams,' it's model number prefix is 574, and it was built by McCulloch between 1959 and 1968.
This universal across Sears hard lines until Eddie Lampert gutted the company. The date code, was on the name plate in a different location. It was etched in a different font and was four digits long, like 3235. In 1996, '3235' meant the 235th day of 1993. 6337 would be the 337th day of 1996.
